Baseball Game Preview: Pocono Mountain East Cardinals vs. Wallenpaupack Area Buckhorns

The Pocono Mountain East Cardinals will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the Wallenpaupack Area Buckhorns at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pocono Mountain East will be strutting in after a victory while Wallenpaupack Area will be coming in after a loss.

On Wednesday, it was close, but Pocono Mountain East sidestepped Pleasant Valley for a 10-9 win. That's two games straight that the Cardinals have won by just one run.

Camryn Sopko was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Justin Williams was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Lucas Angst, who scored two runs and stole a base.

Meanwhile, Wallenpaupack Area came up short against Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday and fell 7-3.

Greg Van Gorder was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
