 The South Effingham Mustangs struggled with  assists on Wednesday (the Glynn Academy Terrors had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. South Effingham took a  60-45 bruising from Glynn Academy. The  defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Effingham in their matchups with Glynn Academy: they've now lost three in a row.
 Despite the  defeat, South Effingham saw an underclassman step up:  Hayden Johanson  dropped  a double-double on 21 points and 11  rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points  Johanson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was  Elena Hairston, who  scored ten points along with six  rebounds and five  assists.
 Glynn Academy's win  was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from   Kyra L page, who  scored 15 points along with four  steals. L page has been hot recently, having posted two or more  steals the last 12 times she's  played.  Janiyah Spaulding was another key contributor,  almost  dropping  a double-double on 17 points and nine  rebounds.
 South Effingham has  traveled a rocky road recently having  lost six of their last eight contests,  which put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record  this season. As for Glynn Academy, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won 11 of their last 12 matches,  which provided a massive bump to their 16-10 record  this season.
 South Effingham will be staying on the road  on Friday to face off against Lakeside at 3:30  p.m.  on February 16th. South Effingham will have to bring their A-game into this one,  as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Lakeside is ranked 102nd). As for Glynn Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brunswick at 6:30  p.m.  on Friday. Glynn Academy is on a six-game streak of home wins, Brunswick a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
