Blue Valley Southwest is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Blue Valley 64-50 on Tuesday. Given the Timberwolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Tigers are ranked 187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Blue Valley Southwest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mia Hansen led the charge by going 6-for-12 on her way to 19 points and five boards. Those 19 points gave Hansen a new career-high. Lily Unruh was another key player, going 8-for-14 to rack up 16 points.
Meanwhile, Bishop Miege waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 46-36.
Blue Valley Southwest better focus on containing Mary Grant and Kirston Verhulst as the pair were huge in Bishop Miege's win. Grant went 9-for-15 en route to 23 points, while Verhulst posted 16 points and eight rebounds. Grant continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla McClinton, who had four points and seven blocks.
Blue Valley Southwest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points over those games. As for Bishop Miege, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-4.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Unruh and Grant. Unruh has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 14.1 points and 2.3 steals. For her part, Grant has averaged 16.7 points and 2.1 steals.
Blue Valley Southwest took a serious blow against Bishop Miege when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 62-35. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Blue Valley Southwest was down 39-14.
