Basketball Recap: Bridges Prep Takes a Loss

Bridges Prep lost against Lake Marion back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bridges Prep Buccaneers lost 62-37 to the Lake Marion Gators. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Gators are ranked 72nd).

When it comes to explaining why Bridges Prep lost, don't look at Addie Taylor. Despite the final result, she posted eight points along with ten boards and six blocks. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 15 games she's played.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Marion to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zimarika Moorer, who scored 14 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. Rayleigh Davis was another key player, going 5 for 11 to rack up 13 points and five steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Bridges Prep and nudges their season record down to 4-13. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 16-5 Hampton County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 85.6% over those games). As for Lake Marion, the victory was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bridges Prep will venture away from home to square off against Hampton County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampton County's defense has only allowed 28.9 points per game this season, so Bridges Prep's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Lake Marion, they will head out to challenge Edisto at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
