Football Game Preview: Westlake Rams vs. Erath Bobcats

The Westlake Rams will venture away from home to take on the Erath Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westlake's defense has only allowed 10.5 points per game this season, so Erath's offense will have their work cut out for them.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Westlake and DeRidder, and DeRidder kept the tradition alive. The Rams took a 24-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons on Friday. The loss was the Rams' first of the season.

Westlake might have lost, but man, Brody Anderson was a machine: he rushed for 133 yards and three TDs on only seven carries, and also threw for 101 yards on eight of 18 attempts. Anderson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run. A healthy portion of Anderson's aerial production (82 yards to be exact) went to Issac Jordan.

Meanwhile, Erath hadn't done well against Vermilion Catholic recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bobcats walked away with a 24-14 win over the Eagles. The victory was just business as usual for the Bobcats, who after four games remain undefeated this season.

Erath's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Westlake, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Westlake and Erath were almost perfectly matched up in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but Westlake suffered an agonizing 21-20 loss. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
