Basketball Recap: Wolfe City Wolves vs. Sam Rayburn Rebels
The Wolfe City Wolves lost against the Sam Rayburn Rebels back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Wolfe City was beaten by the Rebels 57-26. While losing is never fun, Wolfe City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1322nd, while the Rebels are ranked 585th).
When it comes to explaining why Wolfe City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cavan Armstrong. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Wolfe City has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 15 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-21 record this season. As for Sam Rayburn, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-9.
Wolfe City will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Tomcats at 8:00 p.m. As for Sam Rayburn, they will head out on the road to face off against the Warriors at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Honey Grove is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
