Baseball Recap: Nature Coast Tech Sets Scoring Season-High Against Crystal River

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nature Coast Tech). Everything went their way against the Crystal River Pirates on Tuesday as the Nature Coast Tech Sharks made off with an 11-1 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

JACKSON HOYT was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, CODY WRIGHT and MARIO DEANGELIS did most of the damage at the plate: WRIGHT scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while DEANGELIS went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that DEANGELIS hit this season. Another player making a difference was BRYCE HEWELL, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Nature Coast Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
