Baseball Game Preview: South Central Rebels vs. Salem Lions

The South Central Rebels will venture away from home to challenge the Salem Lions at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. South Central has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

South Central came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 15-4 to Providence. The Rebels have struggled against the Pioneers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

South Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Davis, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Noah Decker was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Salem not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19th (when they won 10-1). They blew past Henryville 14-6. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lions considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Salem is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-8-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for South Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
