Basketball Game Preview: North Valleys Panthers vs. Truckee Wolverines

The North Valleys Panthers will square off against the Truckee Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. North Valleys is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.2 points per game this season.

North Valleys is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Sparks: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that North Valleys blew Sparks out of the water with a 65-17 final score. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 25 points or more this season.

North Valleys' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kadyn Shackelford led the charge by putting up 11 points in addition to six rebounds and five blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Collins, who posted 15 points.

North Valleys smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Truckee was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 50-46 to Reed. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

North Valleys' win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Truckee, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Everything came up roses for North Valleys against Truckee in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 70-33 victory. Will North Valleys repeat their success, or does Truckee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
