Baseball Game Preview: Johnson Warriors vs. Kennedy Cougars

Johnson is 0-10 against Kennedy since April of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Johnson Warriors will host the Kennedy Cougars at 3:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Johnson lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Sacramento, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. Johnson was the clear victors by a 19-9 margin over Sacramento on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Johnson got a massive performance out of Tony Hernandez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. James Vallejo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Johnson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Kennedy can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They blew past Natomas 11-5.

The team relied heavily on Sean Whitfield, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Kennedy's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Johnson, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Johnson might still be hurting after the 14-4 defeat they got from Kennedy in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can Johnson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
