Softball Recap: Grundy County Comes Up Short

Grundy County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 7-1 to the Marion County Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellowjackets of the 11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Grundy County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alice Merrell, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Grundy County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Marion County, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Grundy County will challenge Sequatchie County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marion County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tullahoma at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tullahoma has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.6 runs per game on average), something Marion County will no doubt try to take advantage of.
