Basketball Recap: Lutheran Comes Up Short

Lutheran lost against Southwest back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Lutheran Mustangs took a 58-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southwest Dragons. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

It was another big night for Paris Alaquinez, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds for Southwest. The dominant performance also gave Alaquinez a new career-high in blocks (three). Geanna Martinez was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Southwest, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-16.

Lutheran will head out to challenge Central Texas Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Southwest, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Southwest Legacy at 11:30 a.m. Southwest is facing Southwest Legacy at the right time seeing as Southwest Legacy is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
