Soccer Game Preview: Doral Academy vs. Somerset Academy

The Doral Academy Firebirds and the Somerset Academy Panthers will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Doral Academy's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They beat TERRA Environmental by a goal, winning 1-0. The Firebirds' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three games.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Hailey Obando, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, everything went Somerset Academy's way against South Plantation on Friday as Somerset Academy made off with a 3-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Somerset Academy was without their leading scorer, Ella Provost-Heron, in Friday's contest. With Provost-Heron sitting this one out, Angelie Carrasco got some extra time on the pitch (73 vs. her season average of 50.5).

Doral Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Somerset Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
