Basketball Game Preview: Pioneer Titans vs. Whitney Wildcats

Pioneer and Whitney are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Pioneer Titans will welcome the Whitney Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Pioneer took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Oxford Academy 71-25. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Patriots are ranked 539th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Alissa Belen, who went 9 for 15 on her way to 25 points. Aaliyah Perez - Sandi was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Whitney waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They breezed by the Eagles to the tune of 78-40. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Pioneer now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Whitney, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.
