Softball Recap: Model Has No Trouble Against Somerset Christian

While Model put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Somerset Christian. Model put the hurt on Somerset Christian with a sharp 16-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kendall Maggard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Rylli Hunt was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Josie Williams, who scored three runs while going 4-for-4.

Model kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Model now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Somerset Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Model will host Lincoln County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Somerset Christian, they will venture away from home to square off against Paris on Saturday.
