Basketball Game Preview: Tarpon Springs Spongers vs. Palm Harbor University Hurricanes

Tarpon Springs is 1-9 against Palm Harbor University since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tarpon Springs Spongers will square off against the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes at 8:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Tarpon Springs is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Friday. They took a 68-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hudson. One positive for the Spongers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Palm Harbor University can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They walked away with a 57-48 win over Bayshore Christian.

Palm Harbor University's win came from a few key players Tarpon Springs will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ayden Wallace, who went 7 of 15 en route to 18 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards. Curtis George was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Palm Harbor University smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bayshore Christian only pulled down two offensive boards.

Palm Harbor University's victory bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Tarpon Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.

Tarpon Springs took a serious blow against Palm Harbor University when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 60-32. Can Tarpon Springs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
