Basketball Game Preview: Walters Blue Devils vs. Geronimo Blue Jays

The Walters Blue Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Geronimo Blue Jays at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Geronimo will be up against a hot Walters team: the squad just extended their winning streak to 11. Walters took their game on Monday with ease, bagging a 63-26 win over Big Pasture. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Rangers are ranked 395th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Geronimo hadn't done well against Tipton recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Geronimo blew past Tipton, posting a 66-29 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Jays.

Walters pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Geronimo, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Everything came up roses for Walters against Geronimo in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 73-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Walters since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
