Basketball Game Preview: Grapevine Mustangs vs. Birdville Hawks

The Grapevine Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Birdville Hawks at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.

On Tuesday, Grapevine ended up a good deal behind Lake Dallas and lost 67-50. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Meanwhile, Birdville had already won 18 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.9 points) and they went ahead and made it 19 on Saturday. They wrapped up 2024 with a 69-50 victory over the Wildcats. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by exactly 19 points.

Birdville's win bumped their record up to 21-1. As for Grapevine, they now have a losing record at 11-12.

Grapevine came up short against Birdville in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 67-63. Can Grapevine avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
