Preview: Crest Chargers vs. West Charlotte Lions

The Crest Chargers will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Charlotte Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Crest is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.

Crest extended their postseason success on Friday against Statesville. They came out on top against the Greyhounds by a score of 28-16. Given Crest's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Statesville is ranked 66th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Ny?tavious Huskey, who threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Carson, who rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.

Another reason for the win was Crest's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Zyreion Jamison was the leader with two sacks.

Meanwhile, West Charlotte stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Hibriten 29-8. That's two games straight that West Charlotte has won by exactly 21 points.

Crest pushed their record up to 12-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Stuart W. Cramer and 2-9 Parkwood (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 41.8% over those games). As for West Charlotte, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Crest has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 188.7 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for West Charlotte, though, as they've been averaging only 0 per game. How will West Charlotte fare against such a dominant running game?
