Basketball Recap: Brethren Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Brethren duked it out withEvart on Wednesday. The Brethren Bobcats lost 68-48 to the Evart Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 446th, while the Wildcats are ranked 65th).

Leading Evart to victory were Aidan Anderson and Noah Vanderlinde. Anderson went 9 of 14 on his way to 23 points and three steals, while Vanderlinde went 7 of 14 on his way to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The contest was Anderson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Johnson, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 11 points.

Brethren dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Evart, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Brethren will venture away from home to take on Suttons Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Evart, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Beal City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Evart is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64 points per game this season.
