Softball Recap: Holy Cross Takes a Loss

Holy Cross has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.83 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They fell 10-7 to the Pearsall Mavericks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 5-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2022.

Ariel Bosman was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Mia Tobar was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

This is the second loss in a row for Holy Cross and nudges their season record down to 4-2. As for Pearsall, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-3-1 record this season.

Coming up, Holy Cross will challenge La Vernia at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. La Vernia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Pearsall, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hondo at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.
