Recap: Calvary Christian Warriors vs. Canterbury Crusaders
The Calvary Christian Warriors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They breezed by Canterbury on the road to the tune of 79-22. That looming 79-22 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Calvary Christian yet this season.
Ace Taylor was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with five steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Sabec, who scored seven points along with five assists and two steals.
Despite the loss, Canterbury still got an impressive performance from Lou Donnelly, who scored 14 points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Canterbury struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Calvary Christian pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
The win (which was Calvary Christian's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Canterbury, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvary Christian will take on Gibbs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gibbs presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Calvary Christian in Florida (Gibbs is ranked 35th, while Calvary Christian is ranked 244th). As for Canterbury, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Brandon Academy at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Brandon Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
