Football Recap: Hackett Hornets vs. Gentry Pioneers

If Hackett was riding high fresh off their 20-0 takedown of Danville two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hackett Hornets were beaten by the Gentry Pioneers 55-18 on Friday. The Hornets were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Despite the loss, Hackett still got an impressive performance from Brycen Hamilton, who threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown.

Talan Williams went supernova for Gentry, throwing for 214 yards and four touchdowns. Gentry also got a significant boost from Houston Nance, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 83 yards.

Hackett's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Gentry, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Hackett will face off against Mountainburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gentry, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Elkins at 7:00 p.m. on September 27th.
