Basketball Recap: Alexander Lloyd Key Part of Team Effort in Lions Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Westminster Academy walked away with it. They blew past the Hialeah Educational Academy Biggie 85-63 on Wednesday.

Westminster Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alexander Lloyd out in front who went 9-for-11 on his way to 27 points and three steals. The matchup was Lloyd's 20th in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Alex Constanza, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds.

Westminster Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Hialeah Educational Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tony Guerrero, who went 7-for-13 en route to 20 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games he's played. Josiah Brooks was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Westminster Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.3 points. As for Hialeah Educational Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-9.

Looking ahead, Westminster Academy will square off against Riviera Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Riviera Prep will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Westminster Academy surely won't give up without a fight. Hialeah Educational Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
