Softball Game Preview: Randleman Tigers vs. Owen Warhorses

The Randleman Tigers will take on the Owen Warhorses on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Randleman comes in on four and Owen on ten.

Randleman is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over West Caldwell.

Owen came out on top against Lincoln Charter on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Warhorses blew past the Eagles 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Warhorses, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Sophie Neal made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Mia Roland was incredible, firing off three home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-5. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high. Elly Wright was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Owen lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Owen's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Randleman, their record is now 18-5.
