Softball Recap: Andrews Yellowjackets vs. Marion Swamp Foxes

After flying high against Waccamaw last Monday, Andrews came back down to earth. The Andrews Yellowjackets suffered a rough 11-1 loss at the hands of the Marion Swamp Foxes on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Andrews in their matchups with Marion: they've now lost four in a row.

Mary Hannah Morris made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with a home run.

On Marion's side, Hailie Lebiedz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Lebiedz has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances. Lebiedz was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

In other batting news, Marion got a massive performance out of Jashaya Page, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Page is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last four games she's played. Ayoni Malloy was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

Andrews' loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Marion, the victory for them keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Andrews is on the road again on Wednesday to play Johnsonville at 6:00 p.m. As for Marion, they will challenge Dillon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marion is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 14.2 runs per game this season.
