Basketball Recap: Nantahala Comes Up Short

Nantahala lost against Murphy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Nantahala Hawks were dealt a 90-52 loss at the hands of the Murphy Bulldogs.

Despite the loss, Nantahala still got an impressive performance from Cole McCoy, who posted 29 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds. That's the most points McCoy has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernado Trejo, who had nine points.

It was another big night for Abram Twiggs, who scored 18 points for Murphy. Brady Grant was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Nantahala's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-6. As for Murphy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-4.

Nantahala has already played their next game, a 90-75 loss against Swain County on the 14th. As for Murphy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 65-25 victory against Highlands on the 15th.
