Basketball Recap: Kearny Takes a Loss

If Kearny was riding high fresh off their 73-29 takedown of Logan Memorial Education Campus last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Kearny Komets took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crawford Colts. The defeat continues a trend for the Komets in their matchups with the Colts: they've now lost four in a row.

Crawford's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trevon Blanks, who posted 20 points. Blanks continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mickelson Laguerre, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Kearny's loss dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Crawford, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 22-4.

Looking ahead, Kearny will face off against Clairemont at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Kearny's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups. As for Crawford, they will square off against Logan Memorial Education Campus at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
