Recap: West Lafayette Red Devils vs. Lafayette Central Catholic Knights
After a string of four wins, the West Lafayette Red Devils's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lafayette Central Catholic. West Lafayette was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lafayette Central Catholic apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
West Lafayette's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sarah Werth, who scored 18 points. The game was Werth's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Adrianne Tolen was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.
West Lafayette's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-7. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season.
West Lafayette will be playing in front of their home fans against Rensselaer Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rensselaer Central is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, they will square off against Benton Central at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
