Basketball Game Preview: Yazoo City Indians vs. Holmes County Central Jaguars

Yazoo City hasn't had much luck against Holmes County Central recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Yazoo City Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Holmes County Central Jaguars at 6:00 p.m.

Yazoo City is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since February 5, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Holmes County Central by a score of 47-44. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Indians came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Jaguars are ranked 103rd).

Yazoo City better focus on containing Ratasia Greer and D?Nllya Keys as the pair were huge in Holmes County Central's win. Greer posted 21 points, while Keys had six points and 20 rebounds. That's the most points Keys has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sha Sha Giles, who earned eight points and five boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Yazoo City and nudges their season record down to 16-7. As for Holmes County Central, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
