Softball Game Preview: Taylor Allderdice Dragons vs. Steel Valley Ironmen

The Taylor Allderdice Dragons will head out on the road to challenge the Steel Valley Ironmen at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Taylor Allderdice took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past Obama Academy of International Studies 15-5. The win continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Braelyn Altman was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Altman was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two triples, and five RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Taylor Allderdice got a massive performance out of Amya Weisfield, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Gracie Whitt was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Taylor Allderdice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Obama Academy of International Studies only posted an OBP of .364.

Meanwhile, Steel Valley never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Freedom Area.

The victory got Taylor Allderdice back to even at 1-1. As for Steel Valley, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.
