Recap: Natick Redhawks vs. Methuen Rangers
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Natick Redhawks can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Methuen on Friday, falling 47-7.
Jesse Gagliardi threw for 65 yards on six of 14 attempts. James Perrier was his top target, picking up 48 receiving yards. On the ground, James Mortarelli rushed for 32 yards.
Methuen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Drew Eason led the charge by throwing for 177 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Joshua Kwakye was in the mix too, providing Methuen with two touchdowns.
Natick's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Methuen, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
Natick will be playing in front of their home fans against Franklin on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Massachusetts (Franklin is ranked 49th, while Natick is ranked 34th). As for Methuen, they will head out on the road to face off against Needham at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Needham will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
