Baseball Recap: Parkrose Broncos vs. Putnam Kingsmen
Parkrose had lost eight straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 7-18 to make it nine. They came up short against the Putnam Kingsmen, falling 15-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Kingsmen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 on Friday.
Parkrose saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaiden Blair, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
As for Putnam, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-13. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Putnam's side, Nolan Edwards made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Edwards has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Ben Boman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with seven RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. Dexter Berge also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Parkrose does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Putnam, they will challenge Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
