Basketball Recap: Woodberry Forest Wins Going Away Against Crossroads Christian

While Woodberry Forest didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Crossroads Christian Colts on Saturday as the Woodberry Forest Tigers made off with a 69-44 win. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 32nd in Virginia, while the Colts are ranked 130th in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Crossroads Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kobe Edgerton, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds, and Sean Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. The game was Edgerton's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Josh Smith was another key player, putting up seven points.

The victory made it two in a row for Woodberry Forest and bumps their season record up to 6-1. As for Crossroads Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.

After both having extra time off, Woodberry Forest and Fork Union Military Academy will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Woodberry Forest is facing Fork Union Military Academy at the right time seeing as Fork Union Military Academy is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Crossroads Christian and South Granville will round out the year against one another at at 8:30 p.m. on December 28th.
