Baseball Recap: De La Salle Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for De La Salle's offense. They fell just short of the St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons by a score of 2-0 on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Cavalier's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Alton Shorts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, De La Salle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Jeansonne, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Jeansonne's hit this season.

De La Salle suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 5-2. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they pushed their record up to 3-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, De La Salle and St. Thomas Aquinas will both be playing Archbishop Shaw the next time they take the field. De La Salle will head out to face Archbishop Shaw at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while St. Thomas Aquinas will head out to face them at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
