Softball Game Preview: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest Javelinas vs. Pioneer Diamondbacks

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest is 0-10 against Pioneer since March of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest Javelinas will welcome the Pioneer Diamondbacks at 6:30 p.m. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

On Tuesday, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest came up short against Los Fresnos and fell 12-8.

Meanwhile, Pioneer had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Warriors.

Pioneer pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest suffered a grim 20-1 defeat to Pioneer when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
