Baseball Recap: Madison West Takes a Loss

Madison West extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 6-12 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oregon Panthers. If the Regents were looking for revenge after losing 11-3 to the Panthers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Oregon, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

For Oregon's part, the team relied heavily on Peyton Soule, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Kupcho, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Coming up, Madison West will face off against Sun Prairie West at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Regents' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Oregon, they will square off against Waunakee at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
