Softball Recap: Clinton Cougars vs. Big Foot Chiefs
After flying high against Edgerton on Tuesday, Clinton came back down to earth. The Cougars fell just short of the Big Foot Chiefs by a score of 9-8 on Thursday. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Chiefs earlier this season, when they won 5-3.
Keylee VanderPahl made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Maycee Morris, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Clinton's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Big Foot, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-7 record.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clinton will challenge Whitewater at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Whippets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Big Foot, they will take on Monroe at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
