Baseball Recap: West Broward Comes Up Short

If West Broward was feeling good fresh off their 14-0 takedown of Poly Prep Country Day on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. West Broward fell just short of the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.

Noel Perez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

On the hitting side, West Broward saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reggie Rodr?guez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Ethan Lindor also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

West Broward's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Hewitt-Trussville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 23-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Broward will host Cypress Bay at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cypress Bay will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something West Broward surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hewitt-Trussville, they will welcome Vestavia Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
