Baseball Game Preview: Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles vs. Kerr-Vance Academy Spartans

The Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Kerr-Vance Academy Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cape Fear Christian Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Kerr-Vance Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Cape Fear Christian Academy is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Community Christian. Cape Fear Christian Academy never let Community Christian get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Friday.

Tyson Stephens made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Stephens was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 1-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Conner Parrish, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Parker Mclamb, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Cape Fear Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Community Christian only posted an OBP of .222.

Meanwhile, Kerr-Vance Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 26-4 to East Wake Academy.

Kerr-Vance Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Johnson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Cape Fear Christian Academy came up short against Kerr-Vance Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 8-4. Can Cape Fear Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
