Softball Recap: Saugus Centurions vs. Canyon Cowboys

There's no place like home for Saugus, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. Everything went their way against the Canyon Cowboys on Thursday as the Saugus Centurions made off with a 12-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Centurions considering their one-run performance the game before.

The result came thanks to Taliya Mata's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kailey Lankford was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Amelia Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
