Preview: Lake Catholic Cougars vs. Fairview Warriors
The Lake Catholic Cougars will be home for the holidays to greet the Fairview Warriors at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Lake Catholic beat Holy Name 74-69. The win was just what Lake Catholic needed coming off of a 68-42 defeat in their prior matchup.
Lake Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cross Nimmo led the charge by scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Nimmo scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Peyton Budrys rini, who scored 21 points.
Meanwhile, Fairview put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They secured a 73-67 W over Brooklyn. Given Fairview's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Brooklyn is ranked 169th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Catholic now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Fairview, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
Lake Catholic didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Fairview in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 86-82 victory. Does Lake Catholic have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fairview turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
