Softball Game Preview: Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights vs. Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders

The Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights will face off against the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Benilde-St. Margaret's will bounce into Saturday's match after beating Chanhassen, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Red Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Storm on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Knights.

The team relied heavily on Brooklyn Riley, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Maddie Murry was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Cretin-Derham Hall brought some dynamite into their most recent game. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Irondale a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Allie Castro was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Michel, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Cretin-Derham Hall kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Benilde-St. Margaret's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Cretin-Derham Hall, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
