Baseball Game Preview: Michigan City Wolves vs. Merrillville Pirates

For the second straight game, Michigan City will face off against Merrillville. The Wolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Michigan City turned things around against Merrillville on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 15-6 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wolves needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Keegan Cowgill made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Michigan City: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-15 otherwise.

In other batting news, Justice Randall was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. AJ Galindo was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Michigan City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Michigan City's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-10 and their overall record up to 6-16. As for Merrillville, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.
