Softball Recap: Princeton Vikings vs. Lakota East Thunderhawks
Princeton had lost six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-10 to make it seven. They lost 14-4 to the Lakota East Thunderhawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 on April 2nd.
As for Lakota East, their record now sits at 9-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
For Lakota East's part, Karli Damen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Damen was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Abrie Shulte and Amber Munoz did most of the damage at the plate: Shulte earned two runs and three stolen bases, while Munoz went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Shulte a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Zimmerman, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Princeton will venture away from home to take on Northwest at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Lakota East, they will head out to challenge Middletown at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
