Basketball Recap: St. Francis' Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

St. Francis and St. Mary squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but St. Francis had to settle for second. They took a 59-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, with their most recent loss being a 67-54 defeat back in January.

St. Francis lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Evan Newby-Mckinnie, who went 7-for-8 to rack up 20 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 60% in the last three games he's played. Andrew Lindstrom was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

With the defeat, St. Francis broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-11. As for St. Mary's, their win bumped their record up to 17-8.

St. Francis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Mary's, they will face off against Canisius at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Lancers' defense better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 61.2 points per game this season.
