Softball Recap: Mount de Sales Academy Takes a Loss

Mount de Sales Academy dropped their record down to 11-6 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers by a score of 3-1. The match marked the Sailors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Mount de Sales Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kat Wright, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.

As for Archbishop Spalding, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Three seems to be a good number for they as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On Archbishop Spalding's side, Cessi Prince spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up ten Ks. Prince has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Mount de Sales Academy and Archbishop Spalding should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings. The Sailors (ranked 21st) will meet Catholic (ranked 113th) at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Archbishop Spalding will take on Mercy at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (14 vs. 97).
