Basketball Recap: Valiant Cross Academy Beats Northeast for Their 15th Straight Victory

Valiant Cross Academy put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Northeast Raiders by a score of 61-49. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 25th in Alabama, while the Raiders are ranked 481st in Georgia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valiant Cross Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than John Cosby, who went 7 of 11 en route to 19 points along with six steals and five boards. Cosby continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Deshawn Hall, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

Valiant Cross Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeast only pulled down ten offensive boards.

Northeast lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dekanda Fowler Worthy, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 16 points and three steals. Fowler Worthy's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keundre Jackson, who posted seven points and nine rebounds.

Valiant Cross Academy's record now sits at 15-0. As for Northeast, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Valiant Cross Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-50 defeat against Riverdale on the 30th. As for Northeast, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-45 loss against Northgate on the 30th.
