Softball Recap: Sheboygan South Comes Up Short

Sheboygan South had lost 20 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-15 to make it 21. They lost 18-1 to the Racine Lutheran Crusaders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Redwings of the 22-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Sheboygan South saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elaina Thiel, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Thiel has hit this season.

As for Racine Lutheran, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

On Racine Lutheran's side, Iyana Garza made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Garza was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last eight contests.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emilie Lozano Weaver, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last eight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Ramos, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sheboygan South will square off against Green Bay Southwest at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Racine Lutheran, they will host St. Thomas More at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
