Baseball Recap: Lehighton Comes Up Short

If Lehighton was riding high fresh off their 16-1 takedown of Moravian Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Indians came up short against the Southern Lehigh Spartans on Monday, falling 11-4. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2016.

Lehighton saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Behler, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Cody Snyder was another, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Lehighton's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 8-2. As for Southern Lehigh, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Lehighton will challenge Catasauqua at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians are facing the Rough Riders at the right time seeing as the Rough Riders are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Southern Lehigh, they will square off against Northern Lehigh at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
